Rodolfo Ambrosio has named a squad of 26 players to prepare for their ‘Hemispheres Cup’ match against Kenya at Estádio Zerão in Macapá on Friday. Included are a number of players who appeared in both the Americas Rugby Championship and South American Championship.
Three players currently based outside the country are present. Buenos Aires hooker Yan Rosetti and two locks – Luiz ‘Monstro’ Vieira of French club Oyonnax and uncapped Pedro Bengaló who arrives from Cascais in Portugal. The Sancery twins – Felipe and Daniel – have now completed their moves from Albi in France to Brazilian club São José.
Os Tupis are just ahead of the Netherlands in 35th spot on the official World Rugby Rankings. Kenya are currently ranked 27th, marginally behind Ukraine and ahead of Chile. The two teams have met on one previous occasion, with Kenya coming out on top 27-25 five years ago in Dubai.
