Played in Santa Fé, the South Americans came out victors in what was a competitive contest with both teams holding the lead at different opportunities and having the better of the opposition in varying facets of play.

The fixture was a one-off test match and was Italy’s only match in South America on the current tour. The Central Europeans will continue their three-test June tour by playing against the USA next Saturday in San José, California.

Los Pumas, meanwhile are to now focus their attention on Les Bleus. Argentina’s two remaining June internationals are to be against France in the rugby stronghold of Tucumán. With France coming off an underwhelming Six Nations campaign and missing Clermont, Montpellier, Racing 92 and Toulon players to Top 14 Semi Finals duty it is advantage Argentina.

The first fixture against France will be a rare Sunday test match. This is the case to facilitate France’s arrival in the country following Top 14 barrage play-offs this weekend in Paris and Montpellier.

French Head Coach, Guy Noves is yet to confirm his entire roster for the tour. For the time being he has named just seventeen players. Set to be added are players from Castres and Toulouse, the two clubs eliminated this weekend in barrage play-offs. Additional players will come from the eight French clubs that were already eliminated.
