Americas Rankings – June 12 2016

There have been changes to the Americas Rankings following international competition this weekend. The updated Americas Rankings – June 12 2016 sees Bermuda gaining rankings points at the expense of the Bahamas.

Argentina’s 30-24 win over Italy had no impact on the Americas Ranking of the home side. This is the case due to Los Pumas entering the fixture with a much superior ranking to that of the Central Europeans.

Italy now travel to San José, California with a ranking of 70.78 points and still positioned as 14th in the world. Wins over there USA and Canada could see Italy rising in the world rankings while, similarly, both North Americans could rise by winning at home in the coming weeks.

Canada’s narrow loss against Japan on Saturday has seen Canada dropping slightly from 64.27 rankings points to now have a ranking of 64.25. While it is insufficient for Canada to fall the Canadians will have their eyes on Uruguay who will take on Romania tomorrow. A win for Uruguay would see Los Teros overtake Canada in the Americas Rankings.

Uruguay’s 26-24 loss against Emerging Italy on Thursday had no impact on Los Teros’ ranking. This is the case due to the match not being a capped international. This coming week, though, Uruguay will play both Romania and Spain in test matches.

Not involved in rankings this weekend but playing was Chile. Los Cóndores hosted the Argentina XV in a non-capped international. The heavy home loss saw the Argentina XV crowned Sudámerica Rugby Cup winners.

The Americas Rankings will be updated again next Sunday. They will account for the new rankings of not only Uruguay but ten others. Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the USA will all have home internationals with the visitors being France, Kenya, Russia and Italy respectively.

In the Caribbean Rugby World Cup Qualification matches will resume on June 18. The three matches that day will all have rankings on the line. Jamaica will host Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago will take-on Guyana and the Cayman Islands will face Bermuda.
