Landry selected to World Rugby Dream Team

Canadian points scoring machine Ghislaine Landry has been named to the official World Rugby Dream Team for the 2015/16 HSBC Women’s Sevens Series. The 27-year-old had another exceptional year, repeating as highest point scorer on the circuit and ranking third in tries scored. Her 575 career points are second only to New Zealand’s Portia Woodman on the all-time scoring list.

The honour is richly deserved for Landry, and perhaps overdue. Despite leading the charts in points last season and helping Canada to a 2nd place overall finish, she was overlooked for the final Dream Team selection. Her teammates Karen Paquin and Ashley Steacy were the only Canadians included.

Woodman makes the team once again as leading try scorer, with Australia’s creative midfielder Charlotte Caslick and flying teammate Emma Tonegato rounding out the backs selections. A trio of captains make up the forwards. England’s Emily Scarratt, New Zealand’s Sarah Goss, and Shannon Parry of Series Champions Australia have all earned their places up front.
