Americas players Chris Wyles, Marcelo Bosch and Juan Figallo are English champions, having been a part of Saracens’ 28-20 Aviva Premiership Final victory over the Exeter Chiefs this afternoon.
As was the case in last weekend’s Semi Final former USA Eagles captain Chris Wyles was at the forefront of the success. The winger from Connecticut scored the second of Saracens’ two first half tries, putting the team in a comfortable half time position.
The Exeter Chiefs had a far better second half showing as they decreased Saracens’ 20-point advantage into three points in the final ten minutes. A late try set-up by Bosch saw Alex Goode sealing the result minutes from full-time.
The win gave Saracens the European – English double. The London-based club are now both the European Champions Cup and Aviva Premiership champions. In doing so the club is England’s first to do so since the Wasps in 2004.
None of Wyles, Bosch or Figallo will be playing in the upcoming June Internationals. Instead both Wyles and Bosch have announced their international retirements while Figallo is out of consideration as Daniel Hourcade will exclusively be selecting players based at home. The exception being Tomás Cubelli of the Brumbies.
