South Americans set for Pro D2 semis

Players from Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina are set to participate in the French Pro D2 semi-finals this weekend. A half-dozen have been nominated by their teams to contest the next step towards promotion to the Top 14. Just two wins stand between the clubs and the big time.

Aurillac host Mont-de-Marsan on Saturday in the first match of the weekend. Argentine prop Carlos Muzzio starts at loosehead while Uruguayan star Agustín Ormaechea will play scrumhalf for Stade Montois. The team also features giant Samoan lock Salo Tutaia and former New Zealand 7s star Save Tokula. Aurillac have three World Cup players in Samoan hooker Manu Leiataua and Georgian pair Levan Datunashvili and Merab Sharikadze.

The lineups for Sunday’s game between home side Bayonne and Colomiers have not been named yet, but there are two Chileans in Bayonne’s group for the match. Ramón Ayarza and Pablo Huete are both set to play a part in the forwards while former Puma fullback Martín Bustos Moyano should start. Argentinean lock Demián Panizzo is expected to be in the run-on side for Colomiers.
