After a long season the Aviva Premiership champions will be crowned at Twickenham Stadium this weekend. The final is to see the 2015 champions, Saracens, appearing in a third consecutive final.
The English club champions will be up against a new opponent on Saturday. Never before have the Exeter Chiefs appeared in an Aviva Premiership Final. The west-country club’s rapid rise has been based on strong recruitment of undervalued players which, in previous seasons included former Pumas Gonzalo Camacho and Ignacio Mieres.
Now in the final the Exeter Chiefs enter as the underdogs but any doubt as to the club’s ability to get the job done should be quashed by a quick review of how the club has gotten so far. Exeter was too strong for the Wasps, a side which rampaged its way to the European Champions Cup Semi Finals.
Also beating the Wasps in a Semi Final was Saracens. The London-based club knocked-out the Wasps before toppling Racing 92 in the European club final. Involved in the win in Lyon, France were the Americas trio of Chris Wyles, Marcelo Bosch and Juan Figallo. The same three will face Exeter in the Aviva Premiership Final tomorrow.
