Goromaru out of June tests

Japan World Cup star Ayumu Goromaru has been ruled out of the remainder of the Super Rugby season and the June test matches against Canada and Scotland. The goal-kicking fullback damaged the AC joint of his right shoulder in Queensland’s match against the Sunwolves on Saturday. He will undergo surgery next week and will be sidelined for the next 12 weeks.

Goromaru was a high profile signing for the Reds following Japan’s exceptional World Cup campaign. He captured the attention of millions of fans with a stunning 24-point performance in the historic 34-32 upset of South Africa. The injury will bring a close to his brief stay with the Reds, as he is expected to join infamous French Top 14 club Toulon in the coming season.
