Brazil Welcome Argentina and Colombia for Training

This week the host nation of the 2016 Olympic Games, Brazil welcomes Argentina and Colombia for training ahead of the global sporting spectacle.

Brazil’s female athletes are working together with their South American rivals with a common goal of being well prepared for upcoming international competition. Members of the three countries player rosters are gathering in São José dos Campos.

Brazilians women’s coach Chris Neil declared “we want the girls to grow in confidence and perform at their peaks during the final stages of the selection process for Rio 2016“.

Following an intensive week training with the Argentine and Colombian players, the Brazilians are to depart for Paris and London to play in friendly competitions as preparation for the Olympic Games.

Brazil will firstly train at the Marcoussis High Performance Center in France, during which time the players will have the opportunity of collaborating together with leading players in women’s rugby. Matches are to be played on May 13, 14 and 15.

From there the Brazilians will cross to England to compete in a pre-Olympic meet in London. Also participating will be Australia, Canada, England, France, Ireland, Japan, South Africa, Spain and the USA.

The trip to Europe is to be financed by an agreement between the Ministry of Sport and the CBRu. It has been made possible due to rugby’s growth in the country and Brazil’s hosting of the Olympic Games.
