Walker announces Olympic training roster

USA Women’s Eagles 7s coach Richie Walker has named 20 players who will prepare for the 2016 Olympic Games as residents at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. The group has only one remaining stop on the 2015/16 HSBC Sevens Series to help narrow down contenders for the final squad.

Included are 10 of the team that lost to Spain in the Plate semi-finals at Langford two weeks ago. Series veterans Bui Baravilala, Lauren Doyle, Victoria Folayan, and Jessica Javelet are present. Atlanta Dream Team selection Alev Kelter finds a spot, as does inspirational leader Jillion Potter.

Kathryn Johnson is recalled to the group after an absence of several months, and there is one new name in Lilly Durbin. The Fallbrook High School student has previously been part of the Junior All-American program and is now given an opportunity to win full senior honours at the age of 17.

The final round of the Series takes place in Clermont-Ferrand, France, starting on May 28.
