Anselmi to make Super referee debut

Federico Anselmi has been appointed to referee the Super Rugby match between the Kings and Blues at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday. The Argentine official was an assistant in this past weekend’s Jaguares match in Buenos Aires but this will be his first Super Rugby match in the middle. He will become the second Argentine official to take charge of a Super Rugby match, the first being Francisco Pastrana in 2013.

Anselmi, 33, is a veteran of the sevens circuit, making his debut in 2009, and was recently appointed to the match officials panel for the 2016 Olympic Games. A native of Mendoza, ‘Boli’ was an assistant referee for the 2015 World Cup and 2016 Six Nations tournaments. In June he will stand in the middle of his 8th test when Canada host Japan in Vancouver.
