Guillemaín Faces Shoulder Surgery

After a lengthy injury layoff, Argentine forward Juan Cruz Guillemaín now faces possible surgery once again. The San Juan second row made his Super Rugby debut for Los Jaguares in the recent New Zealand tour and having been named to start against the Sunwolves in Tokyo he was forced out when he got injured during the captain’s run.

Now back in Argentina, Guillemáin has been diagnosed with a dislocated acromioclavicular (AC) joint. A decision is now to be made on whether or not the player will undergo surgery. Guillemaín previously had surgery on his other shoulder.

With an operation highly probable Guillemaín could face up to six months on the sidelines. It would rule him out for the rest of the Super Rugby season as well as the home June internationals against Italy and France, and the Rugby Championship.
