Brazil has secured home games in against Kenya and Guyana in June, the CBRu confirmed on Thursday. Brazil previously faced Kenya in a test match in Dubai in 2011. The Africans won the match 27-25.
The Brazilians are to play both Kenya and northern neighbors Guyana in the country’s northern state of Amapá, doing so in the state capital of Macapá. June 18 will see Brazil hosting Kenya in the ‘Hemispheres Cup’. The fixture earned the name due to both Brazil and Kenya having the Ecuador pass through their respective territories.
The fixture will be played at the Estádio Milton Corrêa, a venue with a seating capacity for 10,000 spectators. The playing field is perfectly dissected by the equator with the line passing through the half-way line of the field.
Details concerning Brazil’s international activity against Guyana are yet to be finalized. Plans are underway for Brazil, Guyana and a club side from Guanabara, Rio de Janeiro to playing a triangular Rugby Sevens tournament to kick-off the action in Macapá.
