The LNR have named Agustín Ormaechea’s try from this past weekend as being among the best scored in round 27 of the Pro D2. The Uruguayan scrum half crossed for the opening try of the second half for Mont de Marsan who defeated Carcassonne 39-10.
Ormaechea was in the right place at the right time to latch onto a pass from fullback Yoann Laousse Azpiazu and dive over under the posts untouched. His international teammate and childhood fired, Felipe Berchesi was playing out of position for the opposition at outside center.
The win sees Mont de Marsan sitting in 5th position, three points ahead of Colomiers. Should it remain this way the club would earn the right to compete in the Semi Finals with the prospect of winning promotion to the Top 14. Carcassonne are not so well positioned, currently just one point outside of the relegation zone.
This coming Friday will see Carcassonne at home against Narbonne while Mont de Marsan will play away against Dax on Sunday. Both teams require wins to boost their chances.
