Thomas tears ACL against Namibia

USA Eagle and U20 player Lorenzo Thomas tore his ACL during the U20’s World Rugby Trophy opening match against Namibia. Thomas, who made his debut for the Eagles during the ARC, suffered the injury in the first half of the match and was removed in the 30th minute in the USA’s 46-44 loss.

Thomas heads home early from Africa while his teammates prepare to take on Hong Kong in their second match of the tournament. An imposing center, Thomas will be sorely missed by the U20’s as they attempt to bounce back from their opening loss. Depending on the severity of the tear, Thomas is looking at a significant recovery time. Once he returns stateside, he’ll receive treatment for the tear and begin his road back to the playing field.

As one of the rising stars in American rugby, this will hopefully merely be a small setback for Thomas and not an injury that lingers throughout his career.
