Officials Named for South American A Championship

Officials have been named for the South American A Championship. The four nations tournament is to get underway this coming weekend with Brazil and Chile hosting Uruguay and Paraguay respectively. Three of the four are to have referees involved over the coming two weekends as will Argentina. No Chilean officials have been appointed.

On this coming Saturday, April 23 up-and-coming Argentine Damián Schneider (pictured) will take charge of Chile vs Paraguay in Santiago. He will do so with the assistance of two Argentine officials – Alejandro Agüero and Juan Martínez.

Also on Saturday a fourth Argentine referee, Juan Hernán Sylvestre will be in charge of Brazil vs Uruguay in São Paulo. His assistants are to be Argentine José Covassi and Paraguayan referee Juan Silva.

None of the officials will be involved in the round two fixtures on April 30. Instead Brazilian Henrique Platais will officiate Paraguay vs Uruguay in Asunción and do so with the assistance of Argentina’s Diego Colussi and Mauricio Escalante.

Two Uruguayan officials will be in São Paulo on April 30 for Brazil vs Chile. Alejandro Longres will be in charge of the match with Claudio Cattivelli and Paraguayan Victor Silvero as his assistants.
