Schneider named to Nations Cup panel

Argentine referee Damián Schneider is one of four international referees named to World Rugby’s Nations Cup senior match officials panel. Others included are Vlad Iordechescu of Romania, Shota Tevzadze of Georgia, and Scotland’s Lloyd Linton.

Schneider was one of five referees named to the senior panel of the Americas Rugby Championship. He refereed three matches, making his senior international debut in São Paulo as Brazil hosted Uruguay. The 22-year-old was also part of the 2015 World Rugby u20 Trophy panel in Portugal. He began refereeing in 2010 after injury forced him to retire from the sport, and in 2013 was named to the senior Argentina union (UAR) panel.

The World Rugby Nations Cup enters its 11th year, and the 10th that is has been hosted in Bucharest, Romania. Five other teams will join the host nation in this year’s competition – Spain, Namibia, Emerging Italy, and from the Americas both Uruguay and the Argentina XV. The tournament kicks off on June 9.
