Americas players in Pro D2 – Week 25

Five countries and at least 15 players on 10 different teams will represent the Americas in Pro D2 matches this weekend. Chile’s top professional Pablo Huete got things started on Friday as a replacement for Bayonne in their 26-10 defeat to Perpignan at Stade Aimé Giral.

Mont-de-Marsan faces Lyon with Argentina’s Carlos Muzzio at loosehead prop and Uruguay’s Agustín Ormaechea acting as reserve halfback. Carcassonne have a similar configuration as Nahuel Lobo plays loosehead at Aurillac while Felipe Berchesi starts in the unusual position of outside centre.

There are two Pumas to play for Tarbes against Lyon. Agustín Costa Repetto is at hooker and Nicolás Vergallo at scrumhalf. Four more Argentines will appear at Colomiers. Ariel Castellina starts at tighthead for the home side with second row Demian Panizzo on the bench. Tighthead prop Leandro Assi and winger Lucas Caneda continue in the first choice side for visiting Provence.

Ignacio Mieres lines up in the midfield for Dax as they visit Biarritz, where Takudzwa Ngwenya remains on his favored right wing spot. North America’s other export, Canadian prop Andrew Tiedemann, will make his fourth start of the season for Bourgoin while another Americas tighthead, Argentinean Damian Arias, wears the same shirt for opposing team Montauban.

Javier Rojas may feature for Albi on Saturday against Béziers. The teams are yet to be announced.
