It’s a bit of a quiet week as far as Americas players are concerned in the Greene King IPA Championship. As injuries take their toll near the end of a long season there are only eight Americas exports involved, and only a handful named in first XVs.
Friday evening’s match at Billesley Common sees Doncaster arriving to face bottom-dwellers Moseley. Jon Phelan continues at lock with fellow Canadian Tyler Hotson on the bench. Trinidad & Tobago’s Bevon Armitage is also among the reserves for the second consecutive week.
Saturday has three matches of interest for Americas fans. The first is at Bedford where flanker Justin Blanchet awaits fullback Matt Evans and the Cornish Pirates. Another Canadian, Evan Olmstead, is selected on the blindside flank once again to face Bristol, who feature Argentina’s Gastón Cortes at tighthead prop. Lastly his countryman Martín García Veiga should come on at hooker in the second half for Jersey against visiting Rotherham.
