Anderson, Gletzer to play for San Francisco

Jake Anderson and Alec Gletzer will play for San Francisco in the inaugural PRO Rugby season. Left out of the initial team roster announcement, the UCal Golden Bears alumni and current Olympic club members have joined the team at their Life West training camp. The pair become the latest Eagles from the USA’s Americas Rugby Championship roster to sign up for the new professional competition, with 20 players who appeared in a match day roster now confirmed across the five teams.

A winner of three test caps including two starts in the ARC, fullback Anderson scored his first international points with a try after coming off the bench against Chile. The 24-year-old will have a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most decorated fullbacks in test history as Mils Muliaina of New Zealand All Blacks fame was yesterday confirmed to have signed for the team.

Gletzer, also 24, won two caps as a replacement in February, making his debut against Canada and also appearing in the match against Chile in Fort Lauderdale. A specialist openside flanker, he is a graduate of the Junior All-American program and represented his country at the 2011 World Junior Trophy in Georgia.
