While Los Jaguares are not topping the table the Argentine Super Rugby franchise is earning plenty of praise. The attacking approach of the South Americans has won over many neutral supporters and also calls for cautious attention as it may serve the greater interests of Los Pumas well later on in the year.
For now Super Rugby is the focus and Los Jaguares are using the opportunity to play a vastly different style of rugby than that historically associated with Argentina. Matías Orlando’s opening round try against the Cheetahs may have been matches with Matías Moroni scoring the Best Super Rugby Try of Round 4
Shown below, Moroni’s score means Los Jaguares once again feature in the top five tries of the week. The late second half try appeared to give Los Jaguares the win over the Chiefs but the Argentine hearts were broken as the New Zealand visitors crossed for the game’s final try to win the match in Buenos Aires.
Moroni’s try was a combination of a team effort and individual brilliance from the replacement outside center. Also nominated for the best try of round 4 are Elliot Dixon, Chris Feauai-Sautia and Tomás Cubelli’s teammate, Henry Speight.
