The opening round of the Uruguayan qualifying tournament was played last weekend. A number of encouraging matches were played and the Week 1 results saw Los Cuervos and Montevideo Cricket Club (MVCC) out of the blocks with impressive wins.In the match of the round Old Boys defeated Pucuru Stade Gaulois (PSG) 27-19.

In round two there are to be more matches, five in total. Ceibos Rugby Club will have the round off while Old Christians, Old Boys, Carrasco Polo, Lobos and Champagnat are all to have home advantage.

In total the qualifying tournament features eleven teams. Of them six will go on to play in the elite level national tournament, the Campeonato Uruguayo.
