When USA Rugby launched their for-profit Rugby International Marketing one of their big announcements was plans for a streaming rugby content channel. Since the initial launch, little has been heard from RIM regarding their channel launch aside from an occasional reference to working on the platform. While they have yet to announce an exact date for the launch of the channel, signs are pointing to something in the near future.
In the past few days, a website has surfaced called The Rugby Channel.TV. Fans have the option of submitting their email address for updates on the channel’s launch. A little digging into the back ground information on the website suggests that this is indeed the long awaited RIM Rugby Channel.
Rugby fans in the USA have had a great last month with the increase in coverage of rugby. ESPN has added Super Rugby to their growing line of streaming options and NBCSN recently locked in coverage of the Aviva Premiership. Details have yet to be confirmed on which rugby competitions are going to be carried by The Rugby Channel, but there is not any lack of content available. Stay tuned as details emerge regarding the launch date and what rugby the channel is set to carry.
