PRO Rugby reveals Inaugural Schedule

As the inaugural season inches closer, PRO Rugby has at last revealed its full list of fixtures for 2016. A total of 30 games will be played over 16 weeks, with each team set to undertake an impressive 12 game schedule.

The league has scheduled fixtures largely on Sundays, with only seven games slated for Saturdays and one Friday night game to avoid conflicts with local club games. The opening weekend’s matches feature Sacramento at home to San Francisco at Bonney Field and Denver hosting Ohio at Infinity Park.

After originally announcing a moratorium for the league over the June international release window, the league has instead opted to play continuously through the month, with two fixtures each on weekends now set for Eagles test matches. The Championship Final weekend originally slated for July 31 will now be rescheduled as that weekend will be the last of regular season play.

Rosters and broadcast details, reportedly both television and broadband, are set to be announced later this week, with the first day of practice tabbed for Monday, March 14. The league has also stated that teams will be named entirely based on their location for season one, with a fan vote to determine franchise names for season two. Team kits will be revealed on Thursday, along with an official online apparel store.
