Americas Rankings – March 06 2016

Six countries from the Americas had their rankings on the line this weekend. In the Americas Rugby Championship both Chile vs Canada and Uruguay vs USA were for rankings points. In addition the Rugby World Cup 2015 qualifier of St. Vincent and the Grenadines vs Jamaica had points on the line.

Uruguay’s home win over the Eagles sees the countries trading 1.18 rankings points. The USA thereby falls from 66,86 to 65,68 while Uruguay rises from 62,05 to 63,23. As such Argentina’s dominant position in the Americas is further strengthened.

Uruguay’s spectacular late home win was not enough to overtake Canada. The North Americans thrashing of Chile in Santiago has given Canada a new ranking of 64,27 points, up from 63,42. Chile, meanwhile, have fallen from 56,05 to 55,21.

In the Caribbean Jamaica’s away victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines there are changes in ranking for both countries. The victorious Jamaicans have improved their ranking from 36,99 to 38,92 points to thereby overtake Barbados by moving into 16th in the Americas. St. Vincent and the Grenadines lost points, going down from 36,84 to 34,91 to fall to 19th behind the Bahamas.
