Castrogiovanni suspended for stamping

Martín Castrogiovanni will miss Italy’s Six Nations match against Ireland on March 12. The Argentine-born tighthead prop has been suspended for two weeks after being found guilty of stamping on Duncan Taylor during the Azzurri’s loss to Scotland on Saturday.

The 34-year-old has appeared as a replacement in all three of Italy’s matches in the tournament, taking his total to an Azzurri record 118 caps, one ahead of fellow Argentine Sergio Parisse. With his next appearance he will draw level with Jason Leonard as the second-most capped prop of all-time, and 8th highest of any international player. He is free to play again on March 13.
