Chile vs Uruguay ARC 2016 – Full Match

Round four of the Americas Rugby Championship kicked-off in Santiago on Saturday with Chile playing host to Uruguay at the Parque Mahuida.

Los Teros completed a second win of the ARC, a 23-20 over Los Cóndores to tie Canada in third position with one round left to play. Both countries sit on 10 points, seven behind leaders Argentina and therefore out of contention for the title.

Chile collected a bonus point for losing but have slipped from fifth spot to bottom due to Brazil’s sensational win over the USA. Chile now require points in round five against Canada to avoid the wooden spoon. Doing so will require a strong performance although Chile is to be advantaged by the game being in Santiago and Chile having an extra day to prepare.

Chile’s performance against Uruguay was a significant improvement to that of the round two and three outings against the Argentina XV and the USA. Both away victories saw Chile losing by the largest margins in the competition to date.

Many critics were silenced in Santiago this weekend as a genuine test match went down to the wire with Los Cóndores pushing a Rugby World Cup 2015 competitor to the edge. The full match is shown below with Spanish commentary.
