Americas players in Pro D2 Week 20

Uncapped USA second row Christian Ostberg is set to make his Pro D2 debut for Aurillac in Lyon on Thursday evening. The big Texas native is one of two players who will be followed closely by Eagles fans and selectors, as Takudzwa Ngwenya starts on the right wing for Biarritz against Béziers on Friday.

Argentina have the overwhelming majority of Americas players on show in the French second division this weekend, including five players taking part at Albi. Midfielder Javier Rojas sits on the bench this week for the home side, while on the Tarbes side will sit prop Jerónimo Negrotto. Starting for the visitors will be hooker Agustín Costa Repetto and halfback duo Nicolás Vergallo and Sebastián Poet.

Lucas Caneda starts on the right wing for Provence against Dax, with Leandro Assi tagged as a reserve prop. Martín Chiappesoni lines up at no8 on the opposite side of the pitch. Damian Arias runs out at tighthead for Montauban at Narbonne.

Carlos Muzzio will be the loosehead for Stade Montois, while newly re-signed scrumhalf Agustín Ormaechea will have to wait his turn from the bench. His Uruguayan halfback partner Felipe Berchesi meanwhile starts for Carcassonne against Perpignan, with Emiliano Racca of Argentina named as a reserve prop.

Sunday’s teams have yet to be named, but three Americas players have been named in the playing group by Bayonne. Chilean lock Pablo Huete and former Pumas pair Benjamín Macome and Martín Bustos Moyano are all set to play on the flank and fullback respectively. Demian Panizzo should reprise his role in the engine room for Colomiers.
