Gaminara returns for Los Teros

Juan Manuel Gaminara has returned to captain Uruguay against an Argentina XV in round three of the Americas Rugby Championship at the Estadio Burgueño in Maldonado on Saturday. The combative flanker missed the match against the Tupis with work commitments. Head coach Esteban Meneses has made six changes in total to the side that narrowly avoided defeat in Brazil.

Three players have been added to the starting team who have not featured in the previous two matches. Andrés Rocco of Old Boys starts on the wing and at centre is Facundo Klappenbach, captain of last year’s Teritos u20 squad and brother of former Teros skipper Nicolás. The third is flanker Juan Diego Ormaechea, son of World Cup legend Diego senior, who has recently returned to international rugby after nearly three years absence, last seen against Chile in May of 2013.

Ormaechea, Klappenbach, and Rocco replace Matías Beer, Pedro Deal, and Leandro Leivas respectively. Deal is found on the bench while the other two are not present at all. Other changes are Germán Kessler at hooker in place of Carlos Arboleya, Mathias Palomeque at lock for Franco Lamanna, and Martín Secco for Rodrigo Silva at flyhalf. Rodolfo de Mula returns to the bench along with recalled World Cup flanker Fernando Bascou.

Los Teros will be looking to replicate their historic first-ever victory over an Argentina XV in August of last year, a 30-26 result in Montevideo. The match kicks off at 8:30pm Uruguay time, 6:30pm EST, and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
