Brazil select for historic Canada match

Os Tupis have made a half-dozen changes to the starting side to face Canada in round three of the Americas Rugby Championship at Westhills Stadium in Langford on Saturday. Star goal kicker David Harvey is the most notable absentee from the team that nearly upset Uruguay in São Paulo.

A new front row run out as recalled Jonatas ‘Chabal’ Paulo starts at loosehead with Vitor Ancina replacing Jardel Vettorato on the tighthead side. Daniel Danielewicz returns at hooker and assumes the captaincy with last week’s skipper João Luiz da Ros left on the bench. Nick Smith steps back in at no8 to fill the loose forward vacancy.

As expected Lucas Duque moves from scrumhalf to flyhalf in place of Harvey, with Beukes Cremer recalled in the no9 jersey. Stefano Giantorno replaces Guilherme Coghetto on the right wing in the only other change in the backs. Matheus Wolf replaces Felipe Tissot as reserve lock in the reserves.

This will be the first ever test match between the two countries. Kickoff is set for 4pm local (PST) / 7pm EST / 10pm Brasilia and the game will be streamed live by Rugby Canada.
