Jaguares Team named to face Lions

The Jaguares Team has been named to face the Lions in Johannesburg this Saturday. The fixture is the second of two warm-up matches for Argentina’s Super Rugby franchise before the competition gets underway next Friday.

Captaining the team from hooker will be Agustín Creevy who joins Rugby World Cup 2015 colleagues Lucas Noguera Paz and Ramiro Herrera in a strong front-row. Behind them locking the scrum will be young but highly regarded Guido Petti and Tomás Lavanini.

Completing the starting contingent in the pack will be veteran Leonardo Senatore and established young players Pablo Matera and Javier Desio Ortega. The starting forwards are all players who were involved in the Rugby World Cup, six of them starting against Ireland in the Quarter Finals.

The halves pairing that faced Ireland will also face the Lions. Martín Landajo and Nicolás Sánchez are to be two of six starting backs to have been involved in the Rugby World Cup. Centers Jerónimo de La Fuente and Matías Moroni both were with Moroni starting and scoring the opening try in Cardiff.

That back-three sees the well established Joaquín Tuculet starting at the back and being joined by the lively Santiago Cordero on the left wing. Cordero was one of Daniel Hourcade’s strongest cards used to unlook defenses at the World Cup. Another potential weapon will play right wing against the Lions, Emiliano Boffelli.

The remaining squad members are to play on the bench. The match will be played on Friday evening with kick-off scheduled for 2:00pm Argentine time.
