Barford Named Head Coach of Columbus PRO Side

This afternoon, PRO Rugby announced that they have named Paul Barford as Head Coach for their Ohio team. Barford, a former Leicester Tiger, has been active in USA Rugby for the past 35 years since leaving his native England.  He has served in multiple coaching and development roles at the age grade and men’s levels. Barford’s charges have included the High School All Americans, the South Panthers, and recently Cornell University. While PRO has already named a number of well established coaches, Barford is the most experienced of them all.

Set to play their home games at Memorial Park in Obetz, Ohio which is a suburb of Columbus, the Ohio PRO side will begin play in April as one of the initial five professional rugby teams in the United States.

PRO Rugby North America kicks off their inaugural season in April with five teams competing in a 12-match season. The Ohio side is joined by San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, and a yet to be named franchise location.
