The Argentine Women’s Sevens are in Training. A roster of sixteen female athletes are coming together from throughout the country to being preparations tomorrow for Olympic Games repechage qualification.
They are to do so at La Plata Rugby Club, where they will remain until Friday February 19, doing so under the orders of coach Daniel Villén.
Among the challenges awaiting the women’s sevens side in 2016, the most important is in June when they will have an opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games. The repechage qualifying tournament will be played in Dublin, Ireland on June 25-26 with Argentina being one of twelve teams fighting for the last remaining place in Rio de Janeiro.
Hosts Brazil are to be joined by Colombia who won the Sudaméricana Rugby qualifiers last June. Also competing in the Olympic Games will be Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain (exclusively England), Japan, Kenya, New Zealand and the USA.
