Americas Rankings – February 14 2016

Four of the six teams in the Americas Rugby Championship played for rankings points this weekend. As of February 15 2016 there are no changes in overall position. There has, nonetheless, been movement in rankings points.

Canada’s ranking points have been altered, seeing the 63,62 points decreased to a new ranking of 63,42 points. This is based on the Canadians losing by between 1-15 points against the USA. In winning the USA have gained points to move from 68,66 to 68.86 points.

The countries overall ranking remains unchanged with the USA second and Canada third in the Americas. Ahead of them is Argentina whose Americas Rugby Championship match in San Juan did not count towards rankings. With it being the Argentina XV and not Los Pumas matches are uncapped.

Neither Uruguay nor Brazil saw changes to their rankings this weekend. The gulf between them meant no points could be won or lost by Uruguay winning. Had Brazil completed an upset then the Tupis would be virtually tied with Paraguay. The new ranking would have been 50,44.

Further changes could occur this coming Friday and Saturday with three further tournament matches. Canada host Brazil in Langford, Uruguay will take on Argentina in Punta del Este while the USA host Chile in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
