Jaguares fall to Stormers in Super Rugby Warm-up

At Newlands Stadium in Cape Town, Los Jaguares did not have an ideal debut, losing 29-14 to the Stormers in a Super Rugby Warm-up. The fixture was the first of two before debuting in the competition against the Cheetahs later this month.

Played over four periods of twenty minutes, the Stormers outplayed Los Jaguares scoring four tries to two to come out as thoroughly deserved winners. The result gives Head Coach Rául Pérez plenty to think about ahead of the second warm-up match against the Lions.

The South Africans went ahead early with outside backs Leolin Zas and Dillyn Leyds both scoring while the visitors were a man down. Back-rower Javier Ortega Desio had been yellow carded, aiding the Stormers who started well.

The 15-0 lead was not reduced until after the 40 minute mark. Replacement Santiago González Iglesias crossed for Los Jaguares’ first ever try. But it was cancelled out by the Stormers who responded with two of their own before Facundo Isa scored the second for Los Jaguares.
