Despite round two of the Six Nations taking-place there is to be a full round of play in the Guinness Pro 12 this weekend.
In Newport, Wales this evening the Newport-Gwent Dragons will receive Irish province, Connacht in the first Guinness Pro 12 fixture of round 14. Named at fly half for the visitors is USA Eagles leading play-maker AJ MacGinty.
Meanwhile in Dublin Leinster will be entertaining Italian side Zebre. With both teams missing a host of players to Six Nations duty the rosters are severely weakened. There are, nonetheless, to be international players involved from a variety of countries, including Argentina. Props Guillermo Roan and Bruno Postiglioni are to start while Emiliano Coria will feature from the bench.
North of the border Ulster will host last year’s champions, the Glasgow Warriors in Belfast. The Scots go into the game well off the pace in 8th and face the current leaders. Involved for the home side will be the USA eligible Callum Black who will play loosehead prop. Back from international duty in Texas is Greg Peterson who will start in the second-row for Glasgow.
With an 8:15pm kick-off the Scarlets will take-on Edinburgh in Llanelli on Friday. It is another influenced by the Six Nations. The Scarlets’ flying Canadian will again start, doing so on the left wing. The Welsh region’s strong Pro 12 campaign sees the club in second position heading into round 14.
While most will be tuning in for the Six Nations the bottom of the table Benetton Treviso will host the Cardiff Blues at the Stadio Monigo on Saturday. The Italian side welcomed Kieran Crowley today. The former Canadian Head Coach will assume duties next season. The rosters will be named tomorrow. Blaine Scully and Cam Dolan played for the USA last Saturday.
Finally on Sunday Munster will host the Ospreys in an Irish province vs Welsh region fixture. The fixture has been moved from Limerick to Cork. The lineups are yet to be announced but Uruguay’s Mario Sagario is expected to feature. Lucas González Amorosino has departed for Super Rugby while the Ospreys’ Canadians are yet to recover from injuries.
