Hearn signs extension with London Irish

Ciaran Hearn has signed a one-year contract extension with London Irish. The Canadian signed with the Aviva Premiership club following the World Cup and made his debut in December. Since then he has made six appearances, all starts, scoring two tries and enjoying highly positive all-round reviews.

The Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, native is enjoying career best form in the XVs game since leaving Canada’s senior men’s 7s program. After 36 HSBC Sevens Series tournaments and a plethora of achievements in the abbreviated code, Hearn opted to turn his hand to professional rugby following his stand-out performances at the World Cup. He is set to add to his 49 senior XVs caps in the June test series due to include Japan, Russia, and Italy.

London Irish, also the home of fellow Canadian Jebb Sinclair who himself recently re-signed, are currently embroiled in a relegation battle with Newcastle Falcons and Worcester Warriors. Hearn’s outstanding solo effort on the weekend lifted them to a crucial win over the Warriors, and the side looks to be on the upswing with three wins in their last five Premiership matches.
