This morning PRO Rugby North America confirmed that Columbus would be the host city for the fourth team in the competition. It appears as if fans are inching ever so closer to the final five teams that will take part in the competition that starts in April. While Denver is heavily rumored as the final team location, until it is announced it is far from a done deal. Philadelphia, New York, and other locations have been heavily rumored only to see teams go to other locales.
The Columbus suburb of Obetz will serve as the base of operations for the team. The most interesting part of the equation is where games will be played. PRO Rugby indicated in a Facebook post that part of their agreement may include the construction of a stadium. With just over two month until the season starts, construction from scratch seems an impossibility. The Columbus Crew MLS Soccer team has training facilities in Obetz that could come into play.
PRO Rugby North America is the first professional rugby competition in the USA. The competition is set to kick off in April with five teams. The competition appears to be picking up steam as official releases are increasing as coaching staffs have begun to take shape. Playing rosters shouldn’t be too far behind the announcement of the final team.
