Negrotto signs for Stade Montois

Argentine prop Jerónimo Negrotto will leave Tarbes at the end of the season to join French Pro D2 rivals Stade Montois, commonly known as Mont-de-Marsan. The specialist tighthead has been a regular in the Tarbes front row this season, starting seven games with 13 appearances in total since joining the side from Cognac in the off-season.

Tarbes currently sit in 14th spot on the Pro D2 table after being handed a 15-point administrative penalty for allegedly submitting inaccurate financial documentation. The ruling also carries with it automatic relegation from the pro leagues, regardless of whether they finish in the bottom two spots or not. Tarbes are lodging an appeal, but Negrotto has chosen to move on instead of face uncertainty. The club employs three other Argentine players – Agustín Costa Repetto, Nicolás Vergallo, and Sebastián Poet – with all expected to look elsewhere for next season.

While the other three have made senior Pumas appearances, Negrotto remains uncapped with his highest level of international recognition coming at u19 level for Argentina in 2007. The 27-year-old left his home club of Jockey in Rosario to join now-defunct Italian team Crociati in 2012 where he stayed for only one season before moving to Cognac in the French Fédérale 1.
