Lucas González Amorosino has signed a two year contract with the Argentina Rugby Union (UAR) to play Super Rugby for Los Jaguares. As revealed on Friday in a long list of significant news from the Union, the creative outside back will start training with Buenos Aires Cricket & Rugby Club (BACRC) next week after departing from Munster.
The Irish province had signed the World Cup attendee to a short-term contract as cover following the injury-enforced retirement of fullback Felix Jones. González Amorosino appeared in nine games for Munster since his debut in November, including three starts in the Guinness Pro 12.
Like most of his teammates, this will be the first Super Rugby experience for the 30-year-old. He has spent the last 6 seasons in Europe, signing for Leicester Tigers in 2009 with stints at Montpellier, Oyonnax, and Cardiff Blues prior to his Irish move. He has won 49 caps in all for Argentina since his debut in December 2007, scoring 35 points from seven tries.
