Gross named Head Coach for Sacramento PRO Team

Formed USA Eagle lock Luke Gross has been named as the Head Coach of the PRO Rugby North America Sacramento franchise. Gross was capped 62 times, the most for an Eagle lock, and was named to the USA World Cup roster in 1999, 2003, and 2007. Gross also had a long professional career overseas, playing for Harlequins, Scarlets, Newcastle, and a few different Italian sides before finishing his career with Doncaster.

After finishing his professional career, Gross moved into various coaching roles for USA Rugby, including player development roles. Having been tabbed to lead Sacramento, Gross joins San Francisco Head Coach Paul Keeler as the first two coaches in PRO history. A hardworking forward that is well respected in the rugby community, Gross is an excellent appointment for PRO.

The upstart competition, set to kick off in April, still has yet to name their final two franchise locations as well as announce coaches and playing rosters for the remaining sides. Organizers have reportedly identified a good portion of players for the competition, but have planned player identification combines scheduled in Dallas, Greensboro (NC), and Columbus, Ohio scheduled over the new few weeks.
