Cubelli to debut for Brumbies

Argentine international Tomás Cubelli is to debut for the Brumbies this Saturday in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. The Pumas scrum half joined the Canberra based Suepr Rugby franchise late last year after having been under contract with the UAR.

His first appearance since moving to Australia is to be the team’s first warm-up match of the year. The Belgrano Athletic number 9 will start against the Sydney based Waratahs, Australia’s leading side in recent years.

An attractive halves combination will see Cubelli teaming up with Wallaby Matt Toomua. Other notable names starting including forwards Ben Alexander and Sam Carter.

The Super Rugby season will start later this month. The Brumbies are to open at home against the Hurricanes, last season’s beaten finalists. Argentina’s side, Los Jaguares will debut away to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein. Both matches will be played on February 26.
