Americas Players in Pro 12 Week 13

The Americas is to have a number of players featuring in the Pro 12 this weekend. The round is to be one influenced by the Six Nations Championship. With the competition starting next weekend all teams are missing players.

Canadian flier DTH van der Merwe is to start for the top of the table Scarlets who face Connacht away on Saturday. With no Guinness Pro 12 team featuring in the European Rugby Champions Cup it is an example of a game being more important than in previous seasons.

Italian side Zebre will play host to the underperforming Munster on Saturday. While Munster is sitting in a strong position in the competition, the province has failed to reach expectations as seen in finishing well down in the Champions Cup pool phase. Uruguayan Mario Sagario is to start while Guillermo Roan, Bruno Postiglioni and Emiliano Coria will all do so for Zebre.

Calls from Wales have been made to cut Italian sides from the competition yet three of the four Welsh regions have not delivered this season. The Cardiff Blues have a prime opportunity to gain points against Scottish side Edinburgh on Saturday. USA Eagle Blaine Scully will play on the right wing for the home side.

Bottom of the table Benetton Treviso will host the best Guinness Pro 12 side in the Champions Cup this season, Ulster. The Saturday fixture will feature Canadian-Italian Robert Barbieri at the back of the scrum. The U.S. eligible Callum Black will start for the visitors.

Lastly the Ospreys will host the reigning champions, the Glasgow Warriors. The Ospreys’ Canadian contingent are to miss the game as they continue their rehabilitation from injury. Eagle Greg Peterson will play second-row for the Scottish side.
