Americas Players in Pro D2 Week 16

It’s a slow week for players of Americas origin in Pro D2. No more than a dozen will be in action, with 10 named to games on Friday evening and two possibles lined up for Sunday. This won’t be very helpful when it comes time to pick the team of the week!

Takudzwa Ngwenya is the only North American international, and he will have to wait his turn as Biarritz have left him on the bench for their match at Albi. Agustín Ormaechea is one of two Uruguayans. The scrumhalf starts for Stade Montois against Montauban, while his World Cup halfback partner Felipe Berchesi runs out at flyhalf for Carcassonne. Argentine prop Emiliano Racca is among the reserves to face Bayonne, who have two of his countrymen in the starting lineup – flanker Benjamín Macome and fullback Martín Bustos Moyano.

The remaining players also come from Argentina. Agustín Costa Repetto gets the nod at hooker for Tarbes with Sebastián Poet retained at flyhalf for the trip to Perpignan. Belgrano export Leandro Assi makes his run-on debut for Provence at tighthead against Béziers, and Gerónimo Albertario will cover second row for Dax at Narbonne.

Colomiers hosts Aurillac in the only Sunday match. Former Puma Ariel Castellina and uncapped Demian Panizzo hope to feature at prop and lock respectively.
