Leandro Mario Assi joins Aix Marseille Provence Rugby

Buenos Aires front-rower Leandro Mario Assi has joined Aix Marseille Provence Rugby to play in France’s second division the Pro d2. The club confirmed the arrival of the Argentine front-rower as a medical joker in place of the injured Denise Fogarty.

From the famous club of Belgrano Athletic, Assi comes from the same club to have produced present and recent Pumas including Marcelo Bosch, Tomás Cubelli, Santiago García Botta and Francisco Goméz Kodela.

In joining Aix Marseille Provence Rugby the Pro d2 club now has three Argentine players. Former Puma Tomás Vallejos Cinalli and promising uncapped winger Lucas Caneda will aid Assi’s move to the club.

The move will be his second experience playing in Europe. His prior experience came as a 20 year old playing for Venice in Italy’s first division in the 2009/2010 season. Now aged 25 the tighthead prop will have a unique opportunity to play in a fresh environment.
