With time up on the clock Argentine second-rower Manuel Carizza went over for a try to compete a bonus point home victory for Racing 92 in a rescheduled European Rugby Champions Cup match in France on Saturday.
Playing at home to the 2015 Guinness Pro 12 champions, the Glasgow Warriors, Racing 92 dominated the middle of the match to run our comfortable 34-10 winners. In doing so Racing 92 move to 17 points after four rounds of the Champions Cup. Glasgow are eight points behind Racing 92 and seven behind the Northampton Saints.
Racing 92’s remaining fixtures place the Top 14 side in a powerful position to conquer the pool and push for a home Quarter Final. The undefeated side will host the Scarlets in round five before traveling to Scotland for the return fixture against the Glasgow Warriors in round 6. Both matches will be played this month.
For Carizza Saturday’s match was his third of the season in the Champions Cup. Throughout his career the 31 year old has made a total of 25 appearances in Europe, doing so for both Racing 92 and Biarritz for whom he played for in the 2010 Heineken Cup Final.
The 21-19 loss against Toulouse at the Stade de France that year may yet be overcome as Carizza’s team is proving to be one of the front-runners of the ongoing season. His club features big names players from Rugby World Cup 2015 including Juan Imhoff who joined Carizza in the starting lineup against Glasgow.
