Ardron Sidelined for 6-8 Weeks

Canada and Ospreys star Tyler Ardron faces another spell on the sidelines with a troublesome knee injury. The national captain struggled to make the World Cup after spraining his left MCL against Samoa in July during the Pacific Nations Cup, and suffered a second injury to the same knee against France in October. After undergoing arthroscopic surgery he returned to face against Zebre on December 6, but has not played since and will now sit out the next 6-8 weeks.

Ospreys Medical Manager Chris Towers says that persistent swelling is the issue.

“Tyler is suffering from an effused knee post-surgery, and on the advice of the specialist responsible for his care we need to give him time to let the swelling settle down. He is looking at another six to eight weeks before he will be in a position to return to playing.”

Ardron was not expected to take part in the Americas Rugby Championship regardless but it is hoped he will be fit to resume international competition in June. In the meantime he will miss the final two pool rounds of the European Champions Cup and at least four weeks of the Guinness Pro 12.
