Chile and Uruguay Impress on Day one at Punta del Este 7s

Chile and Uruguay impressed on Day one at the Punta del Este 7s on Saturday. Neither had perfect opening days but they were able to do enough to qualify for the Cup Quarter Finals.  The two countries were joined by a host of provinces and clubs from both Argentina and Uruguay in additional to an Argentine composite team.

With the exception of Uruguayan club Old Boys the remaining Uruguayan sides did not perform well on the opening day.  Old Boys earned the right to face Chile in a Cup Quarter Final today while the Teros Sevens side will also compete facing last year’s winners, Moby Dick. Argentine sides make up the remaining final four.

The event is being played at the Punta del Este Polo Club which also hosted the 2014 edition of the competition. Day two will get underway at 2:30pm local time.
