Bustos Moyano re-signs with Bayonne

Former Pumas fullback Martín Bustos Moyano has extended his contract with Bayonne for a further two years. The French club was relegated from the Top 14 last season and currently sits in second place on the Pro D2 table, with strong aspirations of an immediate return to the first division.

Capped four times by Argentina, the last in 2013, Bustos Moyano is in his third season with Aviron Bayonnais, having joined ahead of the 2013-14 season from Montpellier Hérault, with whom he spent three seasons. The specialist goal kicker has more than 1000 points to his name in Top 14 action, but his strong form was not enough to earn a recall to the Pumas ahead of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Originally from Córdoba Athletic, Bustos Moyano has also represented his country at u21, ‘A’, and 7s. He started five games on the wing for the Pampas in the 2009 Vodacom Cup.

The re-signing coincides with those of five other players. Club captain Jean Monribot and prop Aretz Iguiniz have added four years to their contracts, Spanish international scrumhalf Guillaume Rouet and South African flyhalf Willie du Plessis each three. Namibian no8 P.J. van Lill will stay in the Basque region for at least another two years.

Bustos Moyano is one of three Americas players at the club. Pumas back row Benjamín Macome is in his second season with the team, while Chilean second row Pablo Huete signed from Massy in the off-season.
