Americas players in B&I Cup Round 4

A half-dozen Canadians, a pair of Argentines, and one US Eagle will take part in round 4 of the British & Irish Cup this weekend. The competition now moves into the second half of the pool stages, with sports on the knock-out round on the line.

Justin Blanchet resumes on the blindside for Bedford against Bristol, but brother Sam is left out of the Blues side and there is no sign of James Pritchard. Gastón Cortes is injured and not in the Bristol lineup.

Only one of three Canadians are in the Cornish Pirates team to face Cardiff Blues Select. Second row Brett Beukeboom is in the second row, but both Aaron Carpenter and Matt Evans have been given a week off. On the Blues side of the pitch will be versatile US Eagles forward Cam Dolan, who this week lines up at no8 having also featured at lock and on the side of the scrum for club and country.

It’s an all-Canadian engine room for Doncaster Knights against Newport Gwent Dragons Select. Tyler Hotson and Jon Phelan pair up for the first time since October and only the third time this season.

Aaron Flagg is back in the run-on side for Moseley this week as they eye up Rotherham again. Kyle Gilmour is back on the other side in the no7 shirt for Titans.

Loosehead prop Ignacio Sáenz Lancuba keeps his place in the Jersey front row against Connacht Eagles. Former Pumas hooker Martín García Veiga is recalled, but only as a reserve.
